Big Cartel’s Growth Marketing team is seeking an experienced Content & Community Manager to lead our content strategy and execution efforts. You will work cross-functionally and independently to solve problems and ignite growth. This role is critical in shaping and promoting the Big Cartel brand through messaging and storytelling across channels. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to manage projects and craft compelling narratives that resonate with our target audiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Help develop and execute content strategy with a consistent tone of voice/style across our website, blog, social media, email, and paid channels 

  • Write and edit various content types including blog posts, social media content, email campaigns, landing pages, and marketing materials 

  • Build a content calendar and distribution process in collaboration with the Growth, Product, and Support teams

  • Manage, monitor, and engage with audiences across social platforms to foster community growth

  • Establish performance metrics in partnership with the Growth team to glean actionable insights, measure content effectiveness, and analyze audience trends

  • Reinforce our messaging strategy/guidelines with internal and external teams; educating and supporting teams when needed

  • Stay up to date on social media audience, cultural trends, and platform developments, leveraging them to enhance our brand and optimize content performance 

  • Brainstorm new ideas for growth across channels

Job requirements

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated success  with social media management, community management, and website content creation 

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, supported by a portfolio or samples demonstrating your long-form and short-form work

  • Experience with content management systems

  • A strong understanding of brand and marketing concepts

  • Excellent communication skills with experience in distilling complex topics into digestible information for consumers 

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams

  • A deep curiosity for learning and who takes the initiative to dive into problems, process, and execution

  • A highly organized, detail-oriented approach that allows them to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Care for your teammates and work to influence the team culture in a positive, healthy direction

Candidates who possess any of the following additional skills would be particularly well-suited to this role:

  • Experience with social media scheduling tools

  • A basic understanding of design and layout

  • A data-driven mindset coupled with experience using analytics tools

  • An understanding of marketing funnels and customer journey mapping
